Cristiano Ronaldo, being one of the most prominent players in the history of sport, received a surprising mention of former teammate Rafael Van der Vaart.

In an exclusive interview with Talksport On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Rafael was asked, who was the best player he played in his impressive 18 -year -old career.

The 42 -year -old named the Portuguese player without hesitation, as he said: “Of course I have to mention Ronaldo because I played for a year at Real Madrid with him.”

Together with praise No. 7, Rafael made an unexpected comparison between Ronaldo and he said: “If you ask me who had the best technique, me or Ronaldo, I would say in terms of first touch and pass.”

However, he quickly revealed what distinguishes the five -time winner of the Ballon d’Or prize from his classmates, pointing out: “His way of thinking is the biggest difference.”

While arguing the mentality and physics of the 40 -year -old, he admitted: “He was so in form and so concentrated in scoring goals and winning things, he looks very close to how special it is, how much effort he puts himself in every day.”

Both players played together at Real Madrid during 2009-10, which was the first year of CR7 in Spain after transferring Manchester United.

“When he scored three, he wanted four, so that was a great quality, and he is still doing it at his age,” he explained to Ronaldo playing for Al Nassr, despite having a remarkable career.
