Duncombe man sentenced in a federal court | News, sports, jobs

A man from Duncombe was sentenced in a federal court to 12 years in prison and three years of supervised release for a high -speed persecution in July 2023 in Webster County, where he also threw a firearm on the vehicle.

According to prosecutors, Lennox Vanvacter, 32, was seen driving a vehicle on July 30, 2023, Sheriff’s officers at the Webster County and police officers in the city of Fort Dodge. It was known that Vanvacter had an active arrest warrant for officers who avoid previously. When an officer tried to start a traffic stop, Vanvacter dedicated himself to a high -speed persecution of almost 30 minutes, reaching 70 mile speeds per hour in Fort Dodge and 100 miles per hour outside the city limits.

The officers deployed two games of spike strips, which finally stopped the Vanvacter vehicle. Once stopped, he tried to flee on foot, but was captured shortly after. At that time, the officers located a 9 mm Smith & Wesson loaded gun that, according to Patrol Car’s video, was thrown from the vehicle by Vanvacter. Federal prosecutors say that Vanvacter had a history of the application of the leading law in high -speed activities.

Vanvacter was sentenced by a jury on October 10, 2024, after a three -day trial and was sentenced this week by the Judge of the United States District Court, Leonard T. Strand.
