The prospect of Boston’s red socks, Kristian Campbell, nail Alex Cora as an idol in the second base

Bradenton, Fla. – With the regular season three weeks away, Kristian Campbell is still pressing for a place on the opening list of the Boston Red Sox Opening Day.

But even if the cut is, the 22 -year -old does not know where he will play.

Campbell said he has been dividing 50/50 time between the second base and the left garden during spring training. He is starting to the left against Pittsburgh’s pirates on Tuesday after doing the same Monday against the Baltimore Orioles, but manager Alex Cora said he hopes he plays secondly on Wednesday.

Cora admitted that he has not seen much from Campbell in the garden, and that putting it there has been mainly a byproduct of wanting his bat in alignment.

Campbell said that Cora has been one of his best mentors in the second, along with the addition of free agent Superstar Alex Bregman. As Cora sees it, it is his responsibility to convey what he collected during his own career, especially the legendary coach Sandy Alomar Mr.

“The knowledge I have learned, is happening forward, that is the beauty of this game,” Cora said. “Every time I have the opportunity to be there, I just give you my advice.”

The conversion of double games, blocking the slots of the arm and perfecting the rhythm of his foot game has become the main approaches to Campbell, who Cora classified as an expert visual apprentice.

“If you talk about that, you will doubt a little, but as soon as you see, you understand it,” Cora said. “Maybe it’s the Spanglish in me that he doesn’t understand, but he’s doing better.”

On the plate, Campbell opened the game of the Pomelo Hitless League in five games. That was in a marked contrast with its minor leagues season in 2024, when it hit .330 with an OPS of .997.

Campbell finally achieved a single on Monday, which said he was relieved to get out of the way.

“It’s definitely good, it seems that everything is improving every day,” said Campbell. “It was definitely good to get that monkey out of my back, sure.”

The bets are high for Campbell in the coming weeks, considering that it is classified as the number 2 prospect in the Red Sox system and the number 7 prospect in baseball. But instead of letting the pressure on the general panorama affect it, Campbell has a mantra to stay focused on small things.

“Just think about it day by day, one day at a time,” said Campbell. “Stay positive, stay grateful and get ready for each day when they arrive.”
