Solomon Howard: Man accused of embezzlement of $ 100,000 of the non -profit organization of Oakland East Oakland Boxing Association

Oakland, California (KGO) – The man who headed the non -profit organization of East Oakland Boxing Association was in a federal court on Monday in Oakland.

Solomon Howard faces four tax evasion charges and a fraud charge by mail that includes a charity donation check of the Golden Gate Warriors Stephen Curry player.

Howard was the executive director of the East Oakland Boxing Association from 2017 to 2021. The non -profit organization to local young people including Kick Boxing and Coaching.

The Boxing Association took the National Attention Center in 2019 when a donation of $ 50,000 of Stephen and Ayesha Curry appeared in a clip of the Ellen Degeneres show, where Howard was in charge and the center.

But the judicial documents claim that Howard deposited the donation check of $ 50,000 in a personal account without the knowledge of the members of the Board.

According to federal prosecutors, “he participated in a scheme for embezzling the money and property of Eoba.”

The documents claim that he bought $ 100,000 of personal items on Amazon, including a queen bed delivered to his house, using the eoba debit card

And prosecutors claim that he embezzled funds to pay two cars and a vacation rental property.

Howard declared himself innocent of all charges and was ordered released under prior supervision of the trial with a bail of $ 25,000.

He and his lawyer did not respond to requests to comment on the case and the interim director of the EOBA said they would issue a statement in the next few days.

I could face up to 20 years in prison only for the charge of fraud.

Howard has no previous criminal record and will return to court on April 9.
