Brittney E. Laarveld, 39, from Chicago.

Prosecutors say that a mother, who was sought by a court order, fled from the officers at high speed and abandoned her son in the middle of the street during the police prosecution in Bannockburn.

Brittney E. Laarveld, 39, from Chicago, was accused of fleeing aggravated to avoid the police, driving with a suspended license and endangering a child’s life.

Lake’s County state prosecutor Lillian Lewis said the officers saw the Laarveld vehicle that was traveling 55 mph in a 40 MPH area on July 24, 2024.

They followed the Laarveld vehicle and made a traffic stop.

He stopped and the officers obtained the identification of Laarveld. Lewis said Laarveld told the officers that he was trying to take his son to football.

An officer returned to his squad to consult Laarveld’s information when he fled in his car from the traffic stop.

Lewis said Laarveld fled at a high speed of speed to the east in Half Day Road in Bannockburn.

The Squad Dashcam video captured Laarveld driving the car and moving away “at a very high speed,” Lewis said.

Lewis said Laarveld accelerated other vehicles in traffic and the officers persecuted her.

The officers traveled more than 70 mph to reach it. Laarveld turned to Ridge Road, where his youthful son was dropped in the middle of the street and quickly moved away, Lewis said.

The officers stopped and collected the child, but did not continue the search. Laarveld was driving with a license suspended at that time.

The police took the child to the police department where his grandmother came to pick him up.

Laarveld also had an active order at the time in a case of Lake 2019 County where it was convicted of possession of a controlled substance and sentenced to probation.

Prosecutors presented a request to revoke their probation in 2022 and she did not appear before the court, which led to the order.

Laarveld was not arrested after police prosecution and an arrest warrant for her was obtained in August 2024. He was arrested last weekend and the charges against him are not determinable.

“This is … the flight of class 4 is not determinable?” Lake County Judge James Simonian, interrogated during a first hearing in the appearances last weekend.

“And we are not going to present a petition to revoke the prior liberation to the rape of class A?” The judge asked a prosecutor in the Court before being forced to release thearve from custody.

Prosecutors said they could not present any request to keep Laarveld in custody due to SAFE-T law.

Simonian ordered that Laarveld is placed in monitoring services prior to level 2 trial, complying with the terms of probation, not promoting without a valid license and complying with the recommendations or orders of DCFS.

“Lady, you will be released. The state of Illinois says that the accusation of fleeing and avoiding is not something that can cause a reasonable court to say that it can be a risk of escape while it has been desired with an arrest warrant for three years, ”said the judge.

Laarveld is expected to appear in court again on March 18 for a preliminary hearing state.
