One seriously injured in shooting in southwest Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – One person was seriously injured Saturday night in an accidental shooting in southwest Wichita.

Wichita police said officers responded to a home in the 3300 block of S. All Hallows Ave around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived they found a person with a gunshot wound.

“After conducting interviews at the hospital, it was learned that the suspect had brought a firearm downstairs to show the victim,” said WPD Public Information Officer Andrew Ford. “During a moment of wrestling, the firearm accidentally discharged, hitting the victim in the abdomen.”

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.

Ford said the incident is still under investigation.
