Falling ice causes car crash, serious injuries to man in Moniteau County

A man is seriously injured after fallen ice from another vehicle caused an accident on January 9.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported that a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling northbound on Missouri Route 5 on Thursday.

Around 5:15 p.m., an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound when a large piece of ice fell from its car and struck the windshield of the Chevrolet.

The ice caused the Chevy to go off the left side of the road and crash into a fence. The vehicle that fell on ice reportedly left the scene.

A 60-year-old Chevy driver from Tipton was seriously injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital.

MSHP noted that the man was wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.
