NASA engineer’s four-step method is the ‘best way’ to defrost your car quickly

Walking out to your car in the morning and realizing that the windshield is icy can be very frustrating.

It means you should erase it completely before going out for a drive; Otherwise, you may receive a hefty fine, but if you are late anyway, this can be stressful. TikToker @eden_tyres_and_servicing, automotive experts in the West Midlands shared a video saying: “This is the best way to defrost your windscreen according to a former NASA engineer” and, unsurprisingly, it’s not using hot water as that could break it.

The first step is to get into your car and “immediately turn on the car heater to full power.” The second step is to “turn on the car’s air conditioning, which will help absorb the rest of the moisture inside.”

The third step is to “turn off the car air circulation button”, because when it is turned on, the “moisture is trapped inside.” The fourth step is “a little unexpected,” as it involves “opening all the car windows just slightly.”

“This will help exchange the humidity in the car for the dry air outside and voila, a nice defrosted windshield,” he said, ending the video.

Someone in the comments recommended: “Lower the sunshades too – it traps more hot air against the screen.” Another said “this doesn’t work” for their car, so it may not work for everyone.

Others recommended other things, with one saying: “A little warm water in a bottle and boom 5 seconds later. Having done it for 27 years and without breaking any windows,” but this is not recommended.

Someone else shared: “A sealed plastic bag with water slightly above the cold. Not even warm. Scrub all windows. It always works.”

“My car doesn’t have these fancy buttons. I have to start my car and wait for the heater to heat up, which takes 20-25 minutes,” one TikToker fumed.

Another suggested: “Ice scraper, proper job, £1.99, takes 5 minutes.” “Great tips,” someone said, sharing that they were going to try it the next time it got cold in the UK.
