Police arrest OAP, 80, on suspicion of murder of man in his 70s who died after being found seriously injured in an apartment

Police have arrested an 80-year-old pensioner on suspicion of murder after a man was found with serious injuries in a flat and later died.

Officers were called to a property on Silverdale Close, in Aylesbury, at 4.20pm yesterday as paramedics struggled to save the victim, a man in his seventies.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

Thames Valley Police arrested an 80-year-old man, from Aylesbury, on suspicion of murder.

At this time he remains in police custody.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the victim’s death.

It is understood the two men knew each other.

A police cordon will be maintained while investigations continue, the force said.

Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Firstly, I would like to wish my deepest condolences to the family of the man who sadly died following this incident.

“We have launched a murder investigation and I recognize the concern this will cause in the local community.

“However, we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and both parties know each other.

“Extensive investigations are ongoing into this incident and the scene will remain active for some time as our investigation continues; We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused.

“We are confident that there is no increased risk to the community at this time, and I would urge anyone who has any concerns to speak to any of our officers on scene.
