“We are very different actors, but of course you are the product of your environment, and it is a world that has always interested me a lot.

‘I’m interested in the darker side of things. As an actor, you hope your role is as meaty as possible, so you have as much to immerse yourself in as possible. The most exciting thing is being able to explore parts of myself.

“You can hide behind all these beautiful artifices, the costumes, the story, but the place I draw inspiration from is deeply personal.”

Johnny and Vanessa began dating in 1998 and welcomed Lily-Rose the following year, before joining their family with son Jack in 2002.

“Obviously, it’s still not totally normal, but at least there’s a sense of normality, and a sense of childhood and freedom and play and everything.”
