Yuki Ohashi: Blackburn Rovers striker will miss derby against Burnley

Blackburn will be without Japan international Yuki Ohashi and could also be without midfielder Todd Cantwell for Saturday’s East Lancashire derby against Burnley.

Ohashi was injured in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United after a challenge by Jayden Bogle forced the striker to leave the field in the 38th minute. Cantwell missed that game due to illness.

“Ochan (Ohashi) came off yesterday after about 20 minutes and went for a scan this morning. We’re waiting for his results,” manager John Eustace told BBC Radio Lancashire.

“I didn’t think it was a particularly good challenge, so hopefully I won’t be out too long.”

“This morning he was very swollen in the treatment room. I would be very surprised if he makes it to the game.

“Toddy didn’t return to training today. He’s been hit hard by this virus, so we’ll see how he is tomorrow. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Blackburn are already missing defenders Scott Wharton, Hayden Carter and Harry Pickering and midfielder Lewis Travis, while striker Arnor Sigurdsson faces a few more weeks out.
