Lakeland, Northland Pines, three others advance to boys soccer regional finals

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) – Five area boys soccer teams escaped their regional final matchups and advanced to sectionals.

#1 Northland Pines just brushed #4 Barron, winning 1-0 and #1 Columbus Catholic defeated #5 Pacelli/Iola-Scandinavia 2-1. #1 Lakeland won by shutout against #5 Seymour, winning 2-0. #1 Eau Claire Memorial earned a big win over #4 Wisconsin Rapids, winning 8-0.

The night saw two heats going in different directions. For Marshfield #3, they tied 1-1 with Holmen #2, but they own their tiebreaker and the Tigers advance. Meanwhile, No. 3 Amherst also tied 1-1 with Gibraltar/Sebastopol, but lacked a tiebreaker, ending the Falcons’ season.
