Armed bank robbery suspect arrested naked. High school subjected to lockout conditions

Braintree police arrested a man in connection with an armed bank robbery at the Eastern Bank at 703 Granite St. across from Braintree High School on Friday morning, according to the Braintree Police Department.

An Eastern Bank branch employee reported the bank was robbed at gunpoint around 10:43 a.m., police said in a news release. The employee gave a description of the man, whose name has not been released. Police said witnesses told officers that a suspect matching the description ran across Granite Street and into the woods near 639 Granite St.

Braintree High School, which is across from the bank, was located in blocking conditions as a precautionary measure. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Police said they set up a perimeter and used K9s and aerial resources to assist in the search. Officers found and detained the man about 15 minutes later near the wood line on West Street.

Although it is not mentioned in the police statement, WCVB’s “Sky5” He was on the scene when the suspect was seen lying in the road naked and covered with a yellow sheet while being detained.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and the man will likely face charges.
