Firefighter taken to hospital after fire truck crash in Northern Kentucky

PENDLETON COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) – A firefighter was airlifted to the hospital after a serious crash Thursday morning in Pendleton County.

He was with the Northern Pendleton Fire District on a fire truck responding to a call near Butler. He apparently lost control on KY 177, just north of Butler Greenwood Road.

The truck went over an embankment and fell into a stream. A county spokesperson says the brakes reportedly failed.

The firefighter was identified as 29-year-old Tyler Trumble. He suffered fractures due to the accident, but is expected to make a full recovery.

When other firefighters arrived, they had to work to free him from the fire truck. The Air Evac team met the lifeguard team at a nearby primary school and flew them to the hospital.
