Athletics: Four seasons on one day for Whatan School Championships of Whatanganui

Athletics: Four seasons on one day for Whatan School Championships of Whatanganui

The virtues of a climate track stood out when the full track program was completed on time.

The field program, however, was abandoned at noon since many younger athletes without peaks slid over the results.

In the 52 years of history of the Teacher Schools of Whatanganui, only once a complete championship was abandoned.

The 1994 meeting was abandoned just after the first obstacle events when Whatanui was beaten by a torrential rain, accompanied by thunder and rays.

On that occasion, the tests for the event of the North Island schools were held along with Athletic Club night the following week.

Whattism Whatanui has agreed again to celebrate the field events that were lost next Tuesday to help athletes who lost their selection of events for the Team of Secondary Schools of Whatanganui.

It is impossible to obtain more than a brief snapshot of the action when it is involved in the painting.

The more detailed results and analysis will have to wait until the column next week.

Jaime Munro (Whatanganui High School) was the first champion of the day with an impressive victory in the Junior Obstacles of 80m and spent during the day to impress, taking advantage of his success last weekend in the children’s championships of Manawatū/Whatanganui.

Munro won the leap of length (4.58m, best staff) and took twice as sprint with a better season in the 200 m (28.93s) in a strong wind against and the 100m in an even stronger wind for a better better of the 13.65.

Munro is clearly a young athlete with a brilliant future.

Juliet McKinlay (Whatgiates School) leaves for the New Zealand combined events championships on Friday, hoping to add a heptatlon medal to the four recently won in Dumedin.

McKinlay should be encouraged by its three titles and the strong performances that bind well for the weekend (height jump 1.53m, javelin 37.57my 100m Obstacles 15.58).

McKinlay also anchored his 4x100m team with an outstanding race, reviewing a wide deficit.

Lennox Brotherton (Whatanganui High School) took the difficult double of 3000m-1500m Senior Boys’, Tilly Darke (Whatangai Collegiate School) won twice as much of 800 my 1500m in the intermediate girls with her sister Greta Darke taking twice 800 m-400m in the senior girls.

In the first, he directed his sister in the combined senior/intermediate race.

There was great competition in the strong intermediate sprint races.

The winner of the New Zealand Long Jump Medal, Auguz Thongskul (Whatanganui High School) took the 100-meter title of his teammate Hayden Stead for only two hundredths of a second with Kopere Maihi-Walker (City College) third and Daniel McMillan-Steele (WHANGANUI HIGH SCHOOL).

The wind against 4.8 m per second affected the times. Early in the afternoon, Maihi-Walker took the 200 meters of Ethan Wells (Whatangui High School) with McMillan-Steele third. James McGregor.

Payne was involved in perhaps the closest race, stopping the challenge of the teammate is Frieslaar to win the 800m of intermediate children (2m 10.05Sy 2m 10.09s) with the best personal results for both athletes.

Frieslaar won the 1500m (4m 45.86s) to direct a combined senior/intermediate combined field of 15 zones.

The relays provided an adequate climax for championships under cleaning skies.

The Cullinane team, which had a very successful meeting with a team that had double size since last year, should be excited with its victories in the relay of Junior Boys’ and girls backed with a victory in the Intermediate Girls event.

Paula Conder has had a great impact on Cullinane Athletics this year, as he has done with Junior Athletics for Athletics Whattics.

WHANGANUI Collegiate won 4x100m of older boys and girls and both Swedish relay with Whatanganui High School won impressively the career of intermediate children.

The officials and the Sport Whatanui team, led by Quinn Hemmingway, must be congratulated for their efforts to carry out the championships on time in difficult conditions.

I will look at the most depth championships next week.
