Opposition protests against the Trump administration immigration policy

The reform of the Popular National Congress (PNCR)/A Partnership for National Unity (APNU)/Alliance for Change (AFC) mobilized a small meeting on Tuesday to protest the immigration policy of the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, after the arrest of the popular social media commentator, Melissa “Melly Mell” Atwell.

With shouts of “Mely Mel!” Free! The joint opposition, during its demonstration in the Plaza de la Revolución, pointed to the decision to arrest Atwell, who, according to reports, will appear before a Louisiana judge in June.
While the specific reason for the arrest of Atwell is still clear, the opposition has used this incident to launch attacks against the progressive/civic party (PPP/c) of the titular people.
The leader of the PNCR, Aubrey Norton and the leader of the AFC, Nigel Hughes were present along with other opposition members of Parliament.

Norton used the protest that was supposed to be about Atwell’s arrest by US authorities, to ridicule the Guyanés government.
He said that Atwell has been attacked because she speaks against corruption.

However, on many occasions, people have appeared and declared that the commentator of social networks ladder them with false statements.
In addition, it is the application of immigration and customs (ICE) of the United States that has stopped Atwell, due to the strict immigration policy promulgated by President Trump.
“Call their families, their friends and ask them to write to senators and congressmen in the United States to get help to Melissa,” Norton told the little meeting.

Although the protests are essentially against Trump’s immigration policy, opposition members affirmed that Atwell’s arrest was related to his defense against the Guyana government.
However, it is important to understand that arrests with ice have nothing to do with activism or freedom of expression.

US ICE applies immigration laws, investigates cross -border crimes and manages the detention and deportation of unauthorized individuals. The reports are that Atwell has been arrested in an ice installation in Louisiana in the United States.
