The man dies in the hospital after a night traffic collision in Letterkenny

A man in his sixty years died at the Hospital of the University of Letterkenny after an accident in Letterkenny in the first hours.

Gardaí continues to investigate a traffic collision that involves a car and two pedestrians, which occurred in Lower Main Street, Letterkenny this morning.

One of the pedestrians, which was seriously injured in the collision, died at the Hospital of the University of Letterkenny today. The coroner has been notified and a post mortem exam will be organized.

The second pedestrian, also a man also aged in his sixty years, has been transferred by plane to the Hospital of the University of Galway, where he continues to receive medical treatment due to serious injuries.

The San Patricio Day Parade in Letterkenny has been canceled.

Gardaí continues to appeal to witnessing.

Any road user who can have camera images (including the board of board) and traveled in the area between 2.30 am and 3.30 am this morning, Monday, March 17, 2025, are asked to make this image available to Gardaí’s investigation.
