We asked Davey Hat-trick to give us his qualifications of matches and comments from players after Liverpool 1 Newcastle 2.
At last!!!
Newcastle won a Cup final in Wembley, against one of the best sides in the world, and deserved. Liverpool fans with whom I came across after the game were also unanimously of that opinion.
If you want to win with this side of Liverpool in any stadium in any competition at any stage of the season, it must be at its best, and even then it is possible that it is not good enough.
Newcastle gave an action for ages and dominated Liverpool for almost the entire game. Everyone in black and white put their hearts and souls in this game and deservedly will go down in our club.
I will never forget the faces of the people around me in the final beep. There was joy, there were tears, strangers hugged each other, and the black and white hordes seemed that they never wanted to leave the stadium. Nor do I think the players did.
All headlines will refer to decades for a trophy, but this day should not mean the end of a story. It has to be the beginning of something.
We defeat Liverpool, Arsenal, Forest and Chelsea on the way to lift the trophy, and at the time of writing, they are the four best teams in the country according to the tables. So now we know how to win a cup and know that we can do it against the best teams on Earth. Let’s do it again soon.
A word for fans. They sounded and looked great: the free scarves turned out to be a blow of genius. I don’t know if it was Wembley’s acoustics, but it sounded as if there were three times more geordies than Scousers in the stadium.
Look elsewhere now if you are one of those readers who always seeks to try certain players. Everyone is getting a good brand from me. After all, they achieved something that legends like Keegan, Shearer, Macdonald, Sir Bobby et al. They won a Trophy for Newcastle United.
Nick Pope – 9
An excellent rescue, a couple of routine, and played more confidently than in recent times. Dominant.
Kieran Trippier – 9
Absolutely excellent.
What a day to put in the type of performance we saw a couple of seasons ago
Fabian Schar – 10
Another who looked at the top of his game.
His positional game, his moment, his head and his death were perfect.
Dan Burn – 10
What a week for Dan Burn from England and what performance today.
He was brave, he was concentrated and was one of several leaders in the field.
And limited it with a thunderous header from a distance for our first goal. He received the game player award and I didn’t hear anyone argue.
Tino Livramento – 9
Disciplined in Defense (Salah barely made a goal smell), enthusiastic in the attack, and did what generally did not: he crossed Murphy’s head with his left foot, and that led to our second goal. A mature screen.
Bruno Guimaraes – 10
He gave everything for the cause (I think his cause is Newcastle fans) and won almost every second ball.
He showed superhuman energy levels and is now officially a Newcastle legend.
Sandro Tonali – 10
For me, this game was won in the center of the field.
Bruno was a reason for that and Sandro was another.
I put some large cups and seemed overwhelmed to the elaborate triumvirate of the center of the field of Liverpool
Joelinton – 10
And our other midfielder was equally good.
He was always in the heart of the action, he left anyone to anyone silly enough to face, and it was a constant driving force for Newcastle. Magnificent.
Jacob Murphy – 9
He sought to get to Liverpool whenever he could and got some promising appearance crosses in the box.
Unexpectedly he won a posterior post heading to obtain an assistance for Isak’s goal. Another that grafted non -stop. When he was uploaded, he could barely walk, and that is not an exaggeration.
Alexander Isak – 10
The great strikers (and he is a great striker), can be very Marshald for most of a game, but they find the network when he is given a division opportunity. This was such a game. He pounced twice and scored two goals. One was given outside the doubtful circumstances, but the other told. It almost has a third, with an improvised attempt of a very difficult opportunity
Harvey Barnes – 9
He was complaint of Gordon’s red card before the game.
I thought that with Taa outside, AG could have had a field day against Quanseah. I don’t need to have worried.
Barnes was a constant threat on the left, worked and seemed more in a way than in recent times.
Subs:
Joe Willock – 8
An animated Joe exhibition, followed by a little time judged at the end.
Callum Wilson – 8
He maintained the defense of the occupied Liverpool and did his defensive duties when the reds were threatening.
Emil Kraft – 7
Only on for 10 minutes (all injury time).
That is not always easy for a defender, but Emil was placed without problems. He even enjoyed a promising Wander UPFIELD.
