Lando Norris has overcome the first practice session for the Australia Grand Prix this weekend in Albert Park in Melbourne after a great accident for Oliver Bearman in the Super Fast 9-10 shift.
Bearman, starting his first full -time season with Haas, lost control of his car coming out of the second part of The Chicane, with a survival click by sending it by the gravel.
The British kept his foot and seemed to have briefly saved his first soft tire round until the car touched the lip between the gravel trap and the asphalt.
A little elevated grass runoff then turned to the car, sending it back in the barriers, where he made a strong contact with both corners on the right. Bearman came out of his unharmed self -destroyed.
The red flags flew for 12 minutes to clear the circuit and collect debris, leaving just over 10 minutes on the clock for the rest of the one -hour session.
Lando Norris, who had not yet screwed the soft tire, took his opportunity, and in his sixth round in the fastest complex he had taken first place with a better turn of 1m17.252s.
Time was an improvement of about 1.3 faster than the corresponding FP1 time last year.
Carlos Sainz was the second most notable for Williams, the Spanish has shot first place shortly before Bearman’s red flag and clung to the late Bolter of Norris.
The Spanish was 0.06 faster than former teammate Charles Leclerc.
Ferrari’s driver was 0.209 years after Norris’s rhythm, but established his time almost 25 minutes before in the session, a potentially significant difference given the evolution of high grip on the public roads of Albert Park.
Oscar Piastri was fourth and 0.418 of his leading teammate.

Max Verstappen was 0.026s behind the Australian after fighting his Red Bull Racing car around the circuit, including a description of the gravel trap in curve 6.
Alex Albon completed the first six for Williams, 0.461s outside the rhythm and 0.312s slower than his teammate Albon.
George Russell had an unusual opportunity in curve 4 after dropping a wheel at the exit and throwing out the road. The Mercedes driver approached dangerously to the puncture of the barriers, but Asphalt’s runoff saved any damage, and could join the session.
Isack Hadjar said he had not maximized the soft tire despite leading the way for bullfighting in Ninth before the Aston Martin promenade in the tenth place.
Yuki Tsunoda was 0.2s slower than his teammate Hadjar on his way to 11th in the order.
The first session of the Lewis Hamilton Grand Prix for Ferrari ended at 12th and 0.819s off rhythm. The British complained that his car was not turning during the time, leaving him 0.61s behind his teammate Leclerc.
Jack Doohan was Alpine’s fastest driver, finishing 13th despite some early flirts with the stones. One of its minor outdates contributed enough gravel to the track to cause a red flag for cleaning, suspending the session for about five minutes.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli, 18 -year -old Mercedes’s rookie, was 14th ahead of his new beginning Gabriel Bortoleto, who took Sauber to 15.
The first Red Bull Racing session of Liam Lawson almost stopped quickly when he brushed the barriers in curve 9. His RB21 survived the light impact to take him to an eventual 16.
Pierre Gasly was 17th in the second alpine ahead of Haas Esteban Ocon’s driver and the broken Oliver Bearman.
