The ‘seriously injured’ soldier after being hit by a vehicle in Benton County

Benton Co., Tenn. (WSMV) – A Soldier of the Tennessee road patrol was “seriously injured” after he was beaten by a vehicle while patrolling on a motorcycle in Benton County.

According to a spokesman for the Department of National Security and Security of Tennessee, soldier Douglas Williams was patrolling on his police motorcycle on the 641 highway of the United States when another vehicle hit him in the rear.

Williams, a 11 -year -old veteran of THP, was seriously injured in the collision, but is not believed to be potentially deadly, said the spokesman. Williams was transferred to a Nashville hospital to receive treatment.

The other driver involved in the accident was not injured.

Research on the cause of the accident is underway by the critical response team to THP incidents.
