East Ryegate man involved in US Marshals incident

RYEGATE, Vt. (WCAX) – Authorities say a Ryegate man is connected to an incident with U.S. Marshals in New Hampshire and Vermont Thursday afternoon.

The FBI is investigating a shooting in the Northeast Kingdom that involved an alleged assault on a U.S. marshal.

Authorities say it happened around 1 p.m. when a chase began in New Hampshire and ended along Route 5 in Ryegate, Vermont.

Court records indicate the man involved is Douglas Reynolds Jr., 36, of East Ryegate, but he has not yet been formally charged in the incident.

Reynolds was arrested in Bradford earlier this year, where he was charged with drug possession, DUI and being involved in a possible police chase. In that case, police found several firearms in the car.
