How a Chinese citizen became one of the most dangerous sexual predators in the United Kingdom

A doctoral student, condemned by drugs and assault multiple women, could be among the most prolific sexual predators in the United Kingdom, the researchers say.

Zhenhao Zou, a 28 -year -old Chinese citizen, was declared guilty of multiple positions, including rape, voyeurism and possession of pornographic material. The officials responsible for enforcing the law fear that the number of their victims will be much higher than is currently known.

Who is Zhenhao Zou?

Originally from China, Zou arrived in the United Kingdom in 2017 to follow higher education. I was studying at the University of Queen in Belfast before moving to London in 2019 to obtain a master’s degree, and then a doctorate at the University College London (UCL).

Coming from a rich origin, led a luxury life. I used to spend thousands for rent, designer clothes and cosmetic procedures.

As he did

Zou planned his assaults, using hidden cameras to record his victims without his knowledge. His crimes covered both the United Kingdom and China. According to reports, the attacks occurred between 2019 and 2024.

The researchers discovered that he used drugs, including ecstasy and an industrial chemist that becomes GHB, commonly known as a “date rape” drug.

Police found a collection of clothing and jewelry of their victims. According to a report in BBCZou recorded nine assaults as “memories” and maintained a trophy box containing the jewels and clothing of his victims.

Evidence against him

The Prosecutor’s Office presented extensive video images of the assaults, revealing horrible details of how Zou took advantage of unconscious or semiconscious women.

During the trial, the jury had to see disturbing images of nine violations, which led to visibly emotional reactions in the courtroom.

Judge Rosina Cottage described Zou as a “dangerous and predatory” criminal and warned that he faces a long prison sentence, which will be delivered on June 19, declared that the BBC report.

Crime scale

The detectives of the Metropolitan Police believe that there could be up to 50 more victims. “Such is the insidious nature of these crimes, I think there is the possibility that many more victims of the victims do not even know that, in fact, he has violated them,” said CDR Kevin Southworth quoted by BBC.

After the coverage of the case media, at least one woman has contacted the police with concerns about Zou. The authorities are now urging more victims, particularly from the Chinese student community in London, to present themselves.

“If you are a woman who somehow had one by one with this Zou man, then we would like to know about you,” added CDR Southworth.

Legal procedures

Zou was found guilty of 11 charges of rape, with two crimes involving the same victim. It was also convicted of three voyeurism positions, 10 positions of possessing extreme pornographic images and a false imprisonment charge.

The jury also found him guilty of three positions to possess a controlled drug with the intention of committing a sexual crime.

In his defense, Zou said that his actions were agreed and part of a prediscing roles game scenario with one of the women he filmed.

University and prosecutors respond

The president of the UCL, Dr. Michael Spence, said they were horrified by these crimes.

Saira Pike of the Crown Prosecutor’s Office thanked the women who presented themselves to inform Zou’s crimes, stating that they have been incredibly strong and brave “Zou is a rapist in series and a danger to women,” Pike added.
