The clash of multiple vehicles on state highway 91 between Copper Mountain and Leadville on Tuesday, March 4, resulted in serious injuries to at least three people, including two Leadville residents, according to the state patrol of Colorado.

The Public Information Agent of the State Patrol of Colorado, the soldier Sherri Méndez, said that eight vehicles, including a semitactor trailer, were involved in the accident that occurred shortly after 3 pm on Tuesday near score 15 of Mile 15, which is located near the Clinton Creek lake not far from Mayflow Gulch.

An 80 -year -old Leadville woman was driving a Chevy Equinox is in “serious state,” after the accident, said Méndez. A 44 -year -old Leadville woman who was the passenger in an expedition of Ford suffered “serious injuries” in the accident, he said. The state patrol on Wednesday, March 5 could not provide information on the state of injury of the Ford driver.



A 68 -year -old Kansas man also suffered “serious injuries” in the accident, Méndez said. A 67 -year -old Denver man who was driving another vehicle suffered “moderate injuries.” A 28 -year -old Denver who was driving a semitractor trailer also suffered “moderate injuries”, but his passenger was not injured, he said. Three other residents of Leadville suffered “minor injuries” in the accident, according to the state patrol of Colorado.

The accident closed the 91 highway in both addresses for more than an hour on Tuesday. It happened during the severe climate with translation conditions and icy roads, said the state patrol of Colorado in a press release. Several people were transported to hospitals to be treated for their wounds.
