The decision of the Pelicans not matching Zion with the old teammate could chase them in the long term.

The decision of the Pelicans not matching Zion with the old teammate could chase them in the long term.

The New Orleans Pelicans are years of controversy, so the main office sends Brandon Ingram to Toronto for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk and Draft Capital on the deadline was not very surprising to anyone in the League.

According to Michael Scotto’s reports by Houshype, there was an alternative path that New Orleans could have taken on the deadline, a path that would have taken RJ Barrett in the exchange of Brandon Ingram, and combined Zion Williamson back with his former Duke teammate in Nola.

In his confrontation, I understand this movement. The pins wanted to get the salary of Ingram from the books, and replace it with RJ Barrett would not have felt like a positive movement: Barrett has two years left in his deal after this season.

These classifications are a living project, regularly updated throughout the year, exploring how each player has forged their NBA niche and how it is evolving over time. If you love the list, share it! If you hate it, even more reasons to share it!

But the pelicans No Having Brandon Ingram does not help them become a better team. If the pins are going to advance with Zion as their star player, which seems to do so (they don’t have many other options), then is the capitalization room really the most beneficial movement?

If the first round that New Orleans Get was out of the table if they decided to take Barrett, then yes, it was still the correct movement. But sometimes, NBA’s acquisitions are as simple as getting a good player if you can get a good player, and Barrett is currently the best player he has been.

But it is not difficult to imagine a world in which, within a year, Brandon Ingram is playing well in Canada, while the pins have … only a capitalization space. I know that being caught in “purgatory”, as they say, is not a pleasant destination in the NBA, but it is not in what the pelicans are at this time.
