Man on bail in the arrest of persecution of the police accused in fatal kissemer hit

A suspect has been accused in the successful accident of December in Bessemer who killed a 57 -year -old Bessemer man.

Eddie Benjamin III, 51, is accused of reckless homicide and leaves the scene of an accident that results in injuries or death.

Killing on December 28, 2024, the accident was Darren Dewayne Amison. He lived in Bessemer.

The officers were sent at 5:45 am that Saturday to a report of a man on the road in the 2600 block of Eighth Avenue North. It was not clear immediately when it was beaten.

Amison was declared dead at the scene at 5:54 am

The authorities said Amison was walking on the road when he was fatally beaten.

Benjamin was reserved in Jefferson County prison on Friday and remains held.

The judicial records show that at the time of their arrest, Benjamin was already under accusation and in a link for three positions of assault in the first degree, a serious crime that tried to avoid and illegal possession of marijuana pending a mental evaluation.

The previous positions come from an accident of December 22, 2021 that occurred while Benjamin was fleeing the police. Three people, including a child, were injured in that accident.

The Bessemer Court Prosecutors presented a motion on Monday to revoke Benjamin’s link in the previous cases, noting that an order of the judge that restricts Benjamin to drive, possess a gun and consume illegal drugs.

He raped the bonus, prosecutors argue, when he returned at the wheel of a car, which resulted in the accident that killed Amison.
