Talented metal guitar heroine Nita Strauss has opened up about her struggles with alcohol and substance abuse in a new interview with metal hammer. talking to Hammer writer Dave Everley in your new problemnow, the Alicia Cooper and Demi Lovato’s guitarist explains that while her addiction issues weren’t always obvious to those around her, they still took a toll on her.
“I wouldn’t say I hit rock bottom,” he says. “I’m not like Nikki Sixxbut I was a dangerous addict because, whether doing drugs or drinking, I was highly functional. I was doing all these things that could have gotten me in trouble, but I never put on a bad show, I never got sloppy. But it was really insidious, because it was affecting my personal life. Some of the guys in the band had noticed it, but my partner Josh, who is now my husband, said to me, ‘If you’re going to be like this, I don’t know how long I’m going to be like this.’ be with you I can’t see how you destroy your life like this. This was the highest point of my professional career so far, and it seemed unfair to me: I couldn’t understand why they were picking on me and why I had to be boring and go to bed early.”
