Clio man seriously injured in two-car crash with deer in Genesee Co.

GENESEE CO., Michigan (WNEM) – A Clio man was seriously injured in a crash between two cars and a deer on I-75 Tuesday night.

According to Michigan State Police, the accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, on southbound I-75 near Maple Road (mile marker 136).

MSP said a 70-year-old Swartz Creek man driving a 2024 Jeep sideways struck a 2021 Doge Ram, driven by a 46-year-old Clio man, while swerving to hit a loved one. The accident caused the Dodge Ram to leave the road and roll into the ditch.

The Clio man was taken to an area hospital for serious injuries and no other injuries were reported, the MSP said, adding that the deer was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

MSP reminds drivers not to swerve to avoid a deer or other wildlife entering the roadway, as it often results in greater damage or injury than would be caused by striking the animal in the original lane of travel.
